Under the Vocational education program, RCDNET has established a vocation school called KLANSEN Institute of Applied Technologies (KIAT) to implement the Trainings and policies put in place by the government of Uganda’s ministry of education while conducting Skills training using the Uganda Vocation Qualification Framework (UVQF). The Institute hold DIT Centre no. UVQF/5750.

In respect to the above, we are Implementing a Skilling project aiming at imparting employable skills to the target vulnerable population who include the Orphans, Young Mothers, Single mothers and women.

Startup Financing and exit strategy

The idea :After a successful training in Vocation occupation, the beneficiaries are expected to find JOBS. We have setup a business Centre to introduce them into the Job and Labor market. KIAT is operated by the trained ladies under supervision and management of a skilled personnel appointed. Bookkeeping and other business management skills are taught during this period practically. Here everyone is assigned a machine and working space, also access to materials within a period not less than six months subject to changes if need arises.  Everyone manages the resources in her hands and a daily saving is mandatory. 

All the money they save within six (06) months belongs to them respectively. Every lady is given their saving at the end of the six months to go start their own SMEs. This is an exit strategy of Learners to the Job market on a rolling basis.

What is planned to be implemented and how?

  • Training Fashion and Garment design, Weaving, ICT, Cooking and Farming qualification Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 based on the Vocational qualification framework of the government of Uganda and following the principles of Competence Based Education and Training (CBET)
  • Sexual Reproductive health mainstreaming at KIAT
